Pilgrimage of San Marcos
Every year on April 25, Nig├╝elas celebrates the festival of San Marcos, the spring feast. All the villagers gather on The Razuela park to enjoy the outdoors. For this day they make some special foods like the ÔÇťhornazoÔÇŁ oil bun with one or more poached eggs inside.
Provincial Meeting of Polyphony
In the first weekend of May Nig├╝elas hosts the provincial meeting of polyphony, which brings together all lovers of choral singing. This event has been held since the late eighties.
Yearly market of local products
Coinciding with the provincial meeting of polyphony, each May in the church square there is a ÔÇśzocoÔÇÖ of traditional local products, especially delicacies. Here you can taste the best cheeses of Albu├▒uelas, wines of Conchar, oils from the Lecr├şn valley and Pesti├▒os of Velez.

Fiesta and Cultural Week
When summer ends, Nig├╝elas dresses up. The third weekend of September festivals are held in honor of ÔÇśla Virgen de las AngustiasÔÇÖ (Our Lady of Sorrows). These feasts are preceded by a cultural week starting the Sunday before and every day offers a different action (rock, theater, flamenco, etc.)
On Friday afternoon the party erupts with a fancy dress parade, in which almost all the villagers form groups, preparing their dresses for months. Tradition takes us to prepare our own costumes bought or rented dresses are not very appreciated.
After the parade begin four endless nights (Friday to Monday) of ÔÇśverbenaÔÇÖ music, dancing and drinking that seldom ends before the morning sun rises.
Amusement rides and stalls are placed around the town center, giving a touch of intimacy and romance to the party.
On Monday afternoon the party says goodbye to another year with the traditional ÔÇśentierro de la zorraÔÇÖ (burial of the fox) of pagan origin when they buried the old evils and problems to start the new year. In this event a stuffed fox is carried around by the brotherhood of the fox, afterwards they invite everyone to join them to eat bread and drink wine.
